F.A.Q.
How long do Groovething play for?
We usually play two 45 minute sets but can play for longer if you require, for example 3 x 40 minute sets, or 2 x 60 minute sets. Many events have specific requirements so we often arrange performance times to suit these needs. If you need to check with us, or want some advice on what works best then please get in touch.
……………………………………………………………………………
How many are in the band, and what instruments do you play?
Our lineup is flexible depending on your event, we can do:
Groovething 5-piece: one singer, guitar, bass, keyboards, drums
Groovething 6-piece: as above with an extra female singer
Groovething 8-piece: the full band with an extra horn section (sax and trumpet)

Do you travel outside of the North West?
Yes. We travel nationwide.
……………………………………………………………………………
Where can we see you?
Sometimes (when we have the time!) we play showcase gigs in pubs or bars throughout the region. Contact us and we will send you an upcoming gigs list.
……………………………………………………………………………
Do you need a deposit?
Initially we will keep a date in our diary for two weeks after you book with us without any deposit. We then require a 20% booking fee which will then secure your date in our diary. This deposit is deducted from the total fee with the balance payable in cleared funds on or before the date of performance.
……………………………………………………………………………
Are there any hidden costs?
There are no hidden costs when you book us for your event. We supply all PA equipment, lighting and anything else your events needs. The price we quote is the price you pay.
……………………………………………………………………………
Do you offer a midweek discount?
Yes. We offer a discount for Sunday (apart from bank holidays), Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday nights.
……………………………………………………………………………
Is there anything we need to do after we have secured the date with the band?
Once we have received confirmation of your event, we will be in touch to confirm all timings and technical details, either directly with yourselves, the venue or via the organiser.
……………………………………………………………………………
How long does it take you to set up?
It takes about 90 minutes from when we arrive to set up and soundcheck. Sometimes we can reduce this, but if the room is being used then it is more difficult to shorten our setup time.
……………………………………………………………………………
Can you set up before the wedding breakfast?
Setup before the wedding breakfast can be arranged for an extra fee, although in most cases it’s not necessary.
There is a natural gap after the meal and (long!) speeches, during which most guests will want to stretch their legs and hit the bar. This is when we take the opportunity to set up.
……………………………………………………………………………
I’m worried that the music will be too loud, can you turn it down?
Yes. We are very careful about how loud we play. We try to aim all our sound at the dance floor, so that your guests elsewhere in the room don’t have to shout to be heard.
If you feel at any point that we are too loud, we will always turn down. There is a limit however to how quiet we can play due to the natural acoustic sound of our instruments. We would advise caution if your venue has a sound limiter installed as this can often cause problems with live music.
……………………………………………………………………………
Can the band play our first dance?
We’d love to! All we ask is that you give us enough time to learn your song before our performance, usually a month is sufficient.
……………………………………………………………………………
Can I select the bands set list?
You can let us know if there are any songs in particular you really do or don’t want us to play, but in general it is best to leave the music selection to us. Our job is to keep the dance floor full, and we know what works!
……………………………………………………………………………
What is your dress code?
We all dress smartly, the girls usually wear black dresses and the boys usually wear black suits and white ties.
……………………………………………………………………………
Can you provide the DJ?
Yes. We can supply a DJ service for you as part of our complete entertainment package. We do as good a job as any professional DJ. As we already have our PA and lighting in place, this can often work our considerably cheaper than booking a seperate DJ.
……………………………………………………………………………
How long do you DJ for?
The DJ can play for as long as you like but an hour after the band finish is usual.
……………………………………………………………………………
Can I pick a playlist for the DJ?
Yes. We encourage you to give us a list of songs you like, so we can incorporate them into the DJ set.
